Centenary Gala …
On Saturday, 21st September, we hosted our very first Open Triples Gala Day to celebrate our centenary year, and what an unforgettable day it was! We welcomed 20 teams from various Wiltshire bowls clubs, including Avon, Spencer Melksham, Spencer Moulton, Calne, Chippenham Town, Warminster, Trowbridge Town, and Holt. Despite a less-than-ideal weather forecast, every team arrived in high spirits, and aside from a brief 5-minute shower, we were blessed with sunshine for the rest of the day.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the teams who competed and generously provided prizes for the raffle. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves and are already looking forward to hosting you again next year! The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising how beautifully the green played, how delicious the breakfast and lunch were, and how well the event was run. Your kind words mean the world to us.
A massive thank you to our club members who worked tirelessly before and during the event. From purchasing, prepping, and serving food and drinks, to making sure the green was in pristine condition, setting up the rinks, selling raffle tickets and spider entries, running target bowls, managing the gazebo, and of course, our fantastic event coordinator who kept everything running smoothly—your efforts were crucial in making the day a success.
We’d also like to extend our thanks to Spencer Sports and Social Club for keeping everyone refreshed with the bar throughout the day.
It was a brilliant way to close the outdoor bowls season, and we couldn’t be prouder of how it all came together. Thank you to everyone who made it possible! Here’s to many more successful events in the future!
Congratulations to our main final winners
